Copyright and Licensing Policy

The International Journal of Mathematics and Sciences Education (IJMSEd) is committed to protecting authors' intellectual property rights while promoting the open dissemination and responsible reuse of scholarly research.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their articles published in IJMSEd.

By publishing with IJMSEd, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, preserve, and make the article permanently available as part of the scholarly record.

Copyright is not transferred to IJMSEd or its publisher. Authors remain the copyright holders of their published work.

2. Creative Commons License

All articles published in IJMSEd are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Under this license, users are permitted to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

These permissions are granted provided that users comply with the conditions of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

3. License Conditions

Users of IJMSEd content must:

Attribution

Give appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide acknowledgment of the original publication in IJMSEd, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made.

ShareAlike

If users remix, transform, or build upon the material, they must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original work (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Users may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

4. Author Rights

Authors retain broad rights over their published work. Authors may:

  • share and distribute their articles;
  • deposit their articles in institutional or subject repositories;
  • publish copies on personal or institutional websites;
  • use their articles for teaching and educational purposes;
  • include their articles in theses or dissertations;
  • reproduce parts of their articles in subsequent scholarly works;
  • distribute copies for scholarly and professional purposes; and
  • adapt or build upon their own work,

provided that applicable attribution and licensing requirements are observed.

5. Reader and User Rights

Readers may freely access, read, download, copy, print, distribute, link to, share, and adapt articles published by IJMSEd without requesting prior permission from the authors or publisher, provided that the use complies with the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Where adapted material is redistributed, it must be made available under the same or a compatible license as required by CC BY-SA 4.0.

6. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in their manuscripts, including figures, photographs, illustrations, tables, instruments, questionnaires, maps, and other copyrighted content.

Unless otherwise indicated in a credit line, material created by the authors and included in the article is covered by the article's applicable license.

Third-party material that is not covered by the CC BY-SA 4.0 license must be clearly identified. Users wishing to reuse such material are responsible for obtaining permission directly from the relevant copyright holder where required.

7. Author Warranties

By submitting a manuscript to IJMSEd, the authors confirm that:

  1. the manuscript is an original scholarly work;
  2. they have the authority to submit and publish the work;
  3. the manuscript does not knowingly infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of another party;
  4. all sources are appropriately acknowledged;
  5. necessary permissions for third-party materials have been obtained where required; and
  6. publication by IJMSEd does not violate any existing contractual or legal obligations.

8. Self-Archiving Policy

IJMSEd permits authors to self-archive their work without an embargo period.

Authors may deposit appropriate versions of their manuscripts in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, academic profiles, and other scholarly platforms.

Authors sharing the published version are encouraged to include the complete citation and DOI of the version of record published by IJMSEd.

9. Publisher Rights

Nashir Al-Kutub Indonesia, as the publisher of IJMSEd, holds a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, preserve, archive, and identify IJMSEd as the original place of publication.

Publication by IJMSEd does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to the publisher.

10. Licensing Information in Published Articles

Copyright and licensing information should be clearly displayed on the journal website and in each published article.

The recommended copyright statement is:

Copyright © [Year] The Author(s). This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

The applicable license should also be identifiable through the article metadata whenever technically possible.

11. Relationship Between Copyright and Open Access

Authors' retention of copyright does not restrict the open-access status of their articles.

Authors retain ownership of their work while granting the public reuse rights through the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. The ShareAlike requirement ensures that adaptations distributed by others remain available under the same open licensing principles.

12. Policy Consistency

IJMSEd applies its copyright and licensing policy consistently across its journal website, submission system, article metadata, and published articles.

Any outdated or inconsistent licensing information identified on the journal website will be corrected to reflect the journal's current CC BY-SA 4.0 policy.
