Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts to the International Journal of Mathematics and Sciences Education (IJMSEd) that fall within the journal's aims and scope. Before submission, authors should carefully read these guidelines and ensure that their manuscript complies with the journal's editorial and ethical requirements.

General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to IJMSEd must be original, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English and prepared using the current IJMSEd manuscript template. The manuscript should normally be at least 9 pages, including tables, figures, and references.

Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript should include a concise and informative title, author names and affiliations, corresponding author information, abstract, keywords, main text, references, and relevant declarations.

The abstract should contain approximately 200–250 words and clearly present the purpose of the study, methodology, principal findings, and major conclusion. Authors should provide 3–5 relevant keywords that adequately represent the content of the manuscript.

For empirical research articles, the main text should generally include:

Introduction – Method – Results – Discussion – Conclusion

Authors may adapt the organization when required by the nature or methodological approach of the study, provided that the manuscript remains clear and logically structured.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively, referred to in the main text, and accompanied by clear and informative captions. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources where permission is required. Figures should be of sufficient quality for publication.

References and Citations

IJMSEd uses the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition referencing style. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all in-text citations correspond accurately to entries in the reference list and that bibliographic information, including DOI information where available, is correct.

References should be relevant to the manuscript and selected on scholarly grounds. Authors should not add irrelevant citations for the purpose of increasing citation counts of particular authors, journals, institutions, or publications.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable institutional, national, and disciplinary ethical standards. Where required, authors must obtain appropriate ethical approval before conducting the research and provide the name of the approving ethics committee or institution and the approval/reference number, where available.

Informed consent must be obtained where applicable. Research involving children or minors should comply with applicable requirements concerning parental or legal guardian consent and participant assent.

Authorship and Contributions

All listed authors must have made substantive scholarly contributions to the work and must approve the submitted and final versions of the manuscript. Individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, an Author Contributions Statement should be provided to describe the contributions of individual authors. The use of the CRediT contributor roles is encouraged where appropriate.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other competing interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

Where no competing interests exist, authors may state:

Conflict of Interest: The authors declare no conflict of interest.

Funding

Authors should disclose all financial support received for the research and/or publication of the article, including the name of the funding organization and grant number where applicable.

Where no specific funding was received, authors may state:

Funding: This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

Data Availability

Original research manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement describing whether and under what conditions the data supporting the findings can be accessed.

Data sharing must not violate participant confidentiality, informed consent, ethical approval, institutional requirements, or applicable law.

Authors should consult the journal's Research Data, Data Sharing, and Reproducibility Policy for further guidance.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Generative artificial intelligence and automated tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, and content of their manuscripts. Substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation or research should be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools Policy. Routine use solely for language correction, spelling, grammar, formatting, or straightforward editorial assistance does not normally require disclosure.

Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work. IJMSEd may use similarity-screening software as part of its editorial assessment.

A similarity percentage alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team based on the nature, extent, and context of overlapping material.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are subject to double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Editorial decisions may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. The final editorial decision rests with the responsible editor based on the reviewers' evaluations, the quality of the manuscript, and compliance with the journal's requirements.

Revision

Authors invited to revise a manuscript should submit a revised version together with a clear point-by-point response explaining how each reviewer and editor comment has been addressed.

Changes made to the manuscript should be clearly identifiable where requested by the editorial office.

Copyright and Licensing

Copyright in articles published by IJMSEd is retained by the author(s). Authors grant IJMSEd the right of first publication.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Open Access

IJMSEd provides immediate open access to its published content without an embargo period. Readers may access published articles without subscription or registration charges.

Reuse of published articles is governed by the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. Further information is available in the journal's Open Access Policy.

Article Processing Charge

IJMSEd does not charge a submission fee or peer-review fee.

An Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 500,000 per accepted article applies only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Payment of the APC has no influence on peer review or editorial decision-making. Authors should consult the journal's Article Processing Charges and Author Fees Policy for complete information.

Statements that are not applicable to a particular manuscript should be identified appropriately rather than providing inaccurate information.

Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the IJMSEd online submission system. Authors should ensure that all required metadata, including author names, affiliations, email addresses, manuscript title, abstract, and keywords, are entered accurately during submission.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted manuscript complies with the journal's requirements and that all co-authors have approved the submission.
